Cold compression therapy in Carlsbad.

Cold compression therapy combines controlled cooling with adjustable pneumatic compression in one system. Carlsbad Athletic Club plans to use the Game Ready GRPro 2.1, with an anatomical wrap for targeted, hands-free recovery in Carlsbad Village.

Game Ready is a regulated medical device. This service launches with the club, subject to eligibility screening and any required prescription or provider direction. Leave your details to check eligibility.

What Is Cold Compression Therapy?

Cold and compression, in one wrap.

Cold compression therapy combines two familiar recovery tools in one system: controlled cooling and intermittent pneumatic compression. The Game Ready GRPro 2.1 circulates ice water through a body-specific wrap while air chambers rhythmically inflate and deflate around the selected area.

The result is a consistent, circumferential session that stays in place without repeatedly replacing ice packs or manually tightening a bandage. Temperature, compression and time are selected according to the device labeling and your eligibility.

Why Use Game Ready Cold Compression

More consistent than an ice pack.

What Happens During a Game Ready Session

Fitted, set and checked.

  1. Eligibility review. We confirm the targeted body area, intended use, health history and any prescription or clinical-direction requirement.
  2. Wrap selection and fit. A trained team member applies the appropriate anatomical wrap over light clothing or according to the operating protocol.
  3. Settings. Temperature, compression level and session time are selected within product labeling and your provider's instructions.
  4. Cold and active compression. Circulating cold water cools the area while the wrap cycles through pneumatic compression.
  5. Post-session check. We remove the wrap, check skin response and provide return-to-activity or referral guidance appropriate to the service model.
Game Ready vs. an Ice Pack vs. Cold Plunge

Choosing the right cold.

Game Ready vs. an ice pack

Game Ready circulates cold water continuously through an anatomical wrap and adds adjustable intermittent pneumatic compression. An ordinary ice pack typically provides static cold over a smaller area without active compression.

Game Ready vs. cold plunge

A cold plunge cools much of the body at once. Game Ready focuses cold and compression on one selected area. The right choice depends on whether your goal is whole-body exposure or targeted recovery.

Game Ready can be scheduled on its own or paired with a larger recovery plan. Depending on your goal, that may include sports massage for recovery, pneumatic compression boots, sauna, focused wave therapy or adjusted training volume. A recovery modality should support the next step in your plan, not replace an appropriate evaluation when something is wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cold compression, answered.

How is Game Ready different from an ice pack?
Game Ready circulates cold water continuously through an anatomical wrap and adds adjustable intermittent pneumatic compression. An ordinary ice pack typically provides static cold over a smaller area without active compression.
How cold does the Game Ready GRPro 2.1 get?
The manufacturer lists an adjustable set-point range of approximately 35 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit when the reservoir is filled as directed. The setting used for you must follow the device label and service protocol.
How long is a cold compression session?
Game Ready offers timed and preset programs, including 30-minute cycles. The club publishes its actual appointment duration once the operating and clinical workflow is finalized.
Can I use Game Ready after every workout?
Frequency depends on your goal, health history, training plan and any medical direction. More recovery exposure is not automatically better. Ask the provider what cadence is appropriate for your situation.
Is Game Ready appropriate after surgery or an injury?
The GRPro 2.1 is used in injury and post-operative settings, but those uses may require a prescription and direction from a licensed healthcare professional. Bring any relevant instructions and complete the eligibility process before booking.
Who should not use cold compression therapy?
Cold and compression are not appropriate for everyone. Circulation problems, cold sensitivity, altered sensation, blood-clot risk, open wounds and other conditions may change eligibility. Screening follows the current Game Ready labeling and any healthcare-provider instructions.
